Revise Biology with Ben

Expert A Level and GCSE Biology Tuition

Hi, I’m Ben!I’m a practising biology teacher in East Yorkshire where I’ve been teaching GCSE and A-Level Biology across a number of secondary schools and sixth form colleges since 2010. I hold a PGCE in Secondary Science from the University of York and a BSc (Hons) in Biology from Newcastle University.I’m passionate about Biology and even more passionate about helping students succeed in it! Over the years, I’ve worked with all kinds of learners (whether they’re aiming for top grades or just trying to finally make sense of tricky topics) and I really enjoy seeing that moment when things “click”.My approach is friendly, supportive and focused on building both understanding and confidence. I break down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and always keep an eye on what actually gets marks in the exam. My goal is simple: to help every student feel more confident in Biology and achieve results they’re genuinely proud of.

Testimonials

“Thank you so much for all the effort you’ve put in over the last couple of months. My daughter’s confidence has grown massively and honestly it can only be put down to you and your way of teaching. My daughter has struggled constantly at college having had the same teacher for both years, and has felt that her teaching style just isn’t compatible with her way of learning. But you’ve put her at ease and she’s gone into her exams feeling better about both herself and her ability. Thank you again, and genuinely you’ve made massive difference for my daughter.”*
“I just wanted to say thank you so much! I have genuinely struggled so much with protein synthesis this year but the visual element of the diagrams has really helped me to understand the process and I don't think I've ever gotten 5 marks on a translation question!! I really do appreciate your time.”
*“Thank you for everything you have done. Biology is a subject I particularly struggle with, but with your help I feel I have become a lot better and have learnt to enjoy it.”*“Thank you. I really appreciated the fact that you always tried to teach in a varied way so that I always found the sessions interesting. I also felt passionate about Biology because I could see you were.”
